The Benefits of Couple Counselling

With Valentine’s day coming up tomorrow, let’s talk about the benefits of couple’s counselling.

There is a popular misconception that couple’s counselling/therapy is only for unhealthy or failing relationships. In reality, both unhealthy and healthy relationships can benefit from couple’s therapy/counselling. Some of the benefits of couple’s therapy may include:

  • An opportunity to be more emotionally vulnerable with your partner

  • Increased appreciation and understanding between partners

  • Restored trust between couples

  • Reduces the chance of future conflicts

  • Improvements in communication between partners

  • An opportunity to discuss each other’s values, needs, wants, and ideals

  • An opportunity to get to know your partner better

  • Better  mental health and physical health

  • Better intimacy between partners

  • Better well being of the overall family system (ie. Children, parents, and others)
