Assessment

Please note: that for the time being, we are unable to accommodate any new requests for any type of assessments due to organizational needs and demands. We will update this page again in the future when we are taking referrals for assessments again.

Psychological assessments can be powerful tools for clients to obtain a better understanding of themselves. They can help you understand your strengths and weaknesses in different areas. Depending on the type of assessment, they may help provide a better understanding of your cognitive functioning, academic performance, social-emotional functioning, psychological functioning, diagnosis, personality, symptoms/coping styles, and/or treatment plan options.

Our assessment services are provided by Registered Psychologists.  These services are currently only provided in English. Assessment services may be provided in person or remotely through some combination of PARiConnect, Q-Interactive, Doxy, Zoom, and/or Microsoft Teams. For more details on specific types of assessments, please click on one of the buttons below.

The assessment process will differ depending on the type of assessment and referral question but often involves several similar steps. Here are some of the common components you can expect as part of the psychological assessment process at CCIPH:

Clinical interview with client: The psychologist will have a session with the client to help gather background information pertinent to the assessment and also discuss the reason for referral.

Clinical interview (s) with others: Depending on the referral question, the psychologist may also conduct clinical interviews with parents, family members, teachers, therapists, other professionals, and stakeholders, as appropriate. These interviews can help gather qualitative information from multiple perspectives to provide a more in-depth view of the client.

Rating scales, screening tools & document reviews: The psychologist may use various documents, rating scales, and screening tools to help gather additional information pertinent to the assessment.

Psychometric testing/standardized testing: The psychologist will administer a test battery. The tests that are administered will differ depending on the referral question. Depending on the number and type of tests, these may be done in a single session or spread out over multiple sessions.

Report: The psychologist will perform an in-depth analysis that synthesizes all of the information gathered to generate a report. The report will consist of individualized recommendations for the client based on the assessment.

Debrief session: The psychologist will discuss the results of the assessment with the client. This will include discussing the recommendations and answering any questions that the client may have.
