Brainspotting

Traditional “talk” therapy isn’t for everyone - We understand that. Brainspotting offers an alternative to talk therapy and a different way to heal.

So what is brainspotting?

According to Dr. David Grand (2021):

Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. Brainspotting is a simultaneous form of diagnosis and treatment, enhanced with Biolateral sound, which is deep, direct, and powerful yet focused and containing.”  (Source: https://brainspotting.com/about-bsp/what-is-brainspotting/)

Proponents believe that brainspotting takes advantage of the position of our eyes or where our gaze is directed to help unlock insights and healing that may not have been previously recognized.

Brainspotting was originally popularized due to effective outcomes working with individuals that had traumatic/adverse life experiences, PTSD, and as a form of trauma therapy. However, proponents of brainspotting believe it can be a successful treatment approach for a number of presenting concerns including:

  • PTSD and trauma disorders

  • Sports performance

  • Phobias

  • Addictions

  • Stress

  • Generalized anxiety disorder and other anxiety disorders

  • Performance anxiety

  • Grief

  • Body dysmorphic disorders

  • Personality disorders
